Then his second son was diagnosed with the same disease. Through years of trying to save his boys, he turned to food for comfort, until…he developed diabetes. ABOUT DAVE
Dave DeLong has been teaching high school algebra and coaching track and cross-country for over 35 years while living in Southern California. Six years later, his youngest child, Jacob, was diagnosed with the same kind of leukemia. Thankfully he is now a healthy teen attending college. While enduring every parent’s biggest nightmare, in the midst of grief, Dave managed to coach his teams to over seventy league, CIF and state championships as well as has guided many nationally ranked athletes. He was voted Teacher of the Year at Canyon High School in 2008. He has been married to his high school sweetheart for over 35 years! Dave at 57 years old and 18 years removed from the death of his son, is at peace knowing Justin fulfilled his soul purpose. He will see his son down the track of life at the finish line!
